Celebrate Black History Month at the Carlyle Club Featuring Alexandria’s Hall Of Famer the Incomparable Edward “Jose” Hernandez, a 1965 Parker-Gray High School graduate, was already an accomplished musician at the age of 16, performing as principal oboist in the National Jewish Community Center Headquarters Orchestra. He became an outstanding educator and recording artist, performing with the “Whispers”, Joe Williams and Patti Austin and many more.
Presenting R&B singer Julia Nixon who conquered Broadway’s Dreamgirls and won a Helen Hayes Award in the critically acclaimed Studio Theatre production of Tony Kushner’s Caroline, or Change. In the ’80s, the multiple Washington Area Music Association Wammie winner began leading the musical group Julia & Company.
